John Edwin Steele

John Edwin Steele, Sr., 82, of Poplar Bluff died Saturday, Oct. 15, 2011 at his residence.

Mr. Steele was born Nov. 12, 1928 in Paragould, Ark. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church, and had retired from the St. Louis Municipal Railroad System. Mr. Steele enjoyed gardening and fishing.

On Oct. 3, 1987, he married Betty Parrott in Randolph, Ill. She survives.

Other survivors include four children, John E. Steele, Jr. and Danny Steele both of Dade County, Fla., Kathleen Steele of St. Louis, Mo. and Cindy Waldemer of Columbia, Ill.; five grandchildren; and three sisters, Coleen Cooper and Margie McClain of Columbia, Ill. and Sally Stewart of Holcomb, Mo.

Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Thursday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will follow at 1:30 p.m. in the Chapel with Rev. Steve Patterson officiating.
