Joseph Paul Falvey

October 23, 1932 — February 24, 2015

Joseph Paul Falvey, 82, of Poplar Bluff, passed away Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis, MO.

Mr. Falvey was born October 23, 1932 in San Antonia, TX, to Pete and Florence Falvey. He was a member of the First Baptist Church; and served his country in the United State Army during the Korean Conflict as a guard with the 38th Parallel. Mr. Falvey retired after many years as a mechanical supervisor and car foreman with the Missouri Pacific and Union Pacific railroads. He served on the board of the Moark Regional Railroad Museum since its formation 24 years ago and was instrumental in obtaining a mail/baggage car and two cabooses for the museum. He also served as vice president of the Poplar Bluff chapter of the National Association of Retired Veteran Railroad Workers. Mr. Falvey enjoyed railroading and for many years had a caboose in his yard. He loved the outdoors, working on classic cars and belonged to the Bootheel Kar Klub.

On May 24, 1952, he and Bobbie Langham were married in Lexington, KY. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include his son Rodger Falvey (Cathy), of Arnold, MO; two grandchildren: Rodger Falvey, Jr.(Jessica) of Orlando, FL, and Ryan Falvey (Melissa), of Barnhart, MO; and six great-grandchildren: Tyler, Lydia, and Cora, all of Orlando; and Peyton, Tylor, and Aubrey, all of Barnhart.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, John Patrick Falvey, and a sister, Evelyn Siebenthall.

Visitation will be Friday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. in the funeral chapel with Rev. Steve Francis officiating. Inurnment will be at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, MO at a later date.
