Joyce A. (Johnson) Burgess

Joyce A. Burgess, 79, of Wappapello, died Monday, Aug. 10, 2015 at Mark Twain Caring Center in Poplar Bluff.

Mrs. Burgess was born Oct. 4, 1935 to the late William Carl and Stella Johnson. She was of the Baptist faith and was a homemaker. Mrs. Burgess enjoyed sending time with her family and quilting.

She was married to William Burgess, who preceded her in death in 1990.

Survivors include two sons: Linsy G. Peridore of Alton, Ill. and Eddie Mitchell of Sparta, Ill.

A son, Allen and three prior husbands also preceded Mrs. Burgess in death.

A visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Wappapello. The funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the Wappapelo funeral chapel with Rev. Tim Schultz officiating. Burial will follow at Little Brushy Cemetery.
