Joyce Ellen (Kingery) Halter

Joyce Ellen Halter, 64, of Poplar Bluff died Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2011 at her residence.

Mrs. Halter was born May 26, 1947 in Coon Island, Mo. She was a member of Westwood Baptist Church, and had retired from Doctor?s Hospital. Mrs. Halter enjoyed spending time and talking on the phone with her family and friends, going to Casinos, collecting frog memorabilia, gardening, quilting and watching the St. Louis Cardinals play baseball.

On Sept. 29, 2000, she married Edward Halter in Piggott, Ark. He survives.

Other survivors include two daughters, Carolyn Knotts of Kansas City, Mo. and Patricia Montiel and husband Gabriel of Poplar Bluff; four grandchildren, Kimberley Knotts, Tiffinee Knotts, Gabriel Montiel, II and Alexis Montiel; special friends, Star Tyner and family of Poplar Bluff; two sisters, Mary Ann Borders and husband Robert of Poplar Bluff and Geraldine Dilly of Buffalo, Mo.; a brother, Marvin C. Kingery and wife Devora of Poplar Bluff; and a brother-in-law, Philip Halter of Jackson, Mo.

Her father, Clinton Kingery, mother and step-father, Georgia (Eaton) and Alfred Lynde, step-son, Brian Halter, and a brother, Darvin L. McWilliams preceded Mrs. Halter in death.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the funeral chapel with Dr. Steve Proctor officiating. Burial will be at the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery.
