Judy Lee McClendon

Nov 20, 1949 — Jul 30, 2026

Poplar Bluff, Missouri

Judy Lee McClendon, 76, of Poplar Bluff, MO, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Judy was born on November 20, 1949, to Charles and Dolores June (McMillan) Lipscomb in Granite City, Illinois. She married Michael McClendon on December 02, 1967, in Carterville, Illinois.

Judy was a hard-working, caring, and dedicated wife and mother. She received her Bachelor of Science with a major in biology from Southeast Missouri State University. While attending college, Judy raised her children and remained heavily involved with their activities; even making time to be their Girl Scout Leader. She was the first member of her family to receive a college degree and was very proud of her accomplishments.

Judy worked for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service at Mingo National Wildlife Refuge near Puxico. After retiring, she worked for The Corp of Engineers and FEMA; traveling across the country to assist with emergency operations in areas of devastation.

Judy and her husband Mike were very involved with fundraising and organizing events for various conservationist clubs and organizations in the area, including Ducks Unlimited and the National Wild Turkey Federation. Judy received national recognition and numerous awards for “The Best Jake Event”. Although Judy’s passion surrounded conservation, her caring and generous spirit didn’t stop there; she was also a proud member of the local Rotary Club and Lions Club, even being recognized as the first female Governor of the Lions Club.

Like her father, Judy was very outgoing and never met a stranger. Although she could be described as stubborn or hardheaded at times, she had a servant’s heart and was always willing to help where needed. Judy loved her family fiercely and never hesitated to put them first. In addition to her own children, she also raised her grandchildren, Charles and Amelia. Her kindness and generosity led to many impactful connections throughout her life. These connections often left lasting impressions on the hearts and minds of those who had the opportunity to experience the selfless love and kindness of Judy. She will be deeply missed.

Judy is survived by her husband of 59 years, Mike McClendon; three daughters, Michelle (Derek) Melton, Kari Lee McClendon, and Amber Minks; two sisters, Maria Hubbard and Rebecca Oelke; brother, Charles Lipscomb Jr.; ten grandchildren, Jonathan, Jack, Erika, Eden, Charles, Tanner, Amelia, Logan, Benjamin, and Emily; three great-grandchildren, A’jay, Ayla, and Koa; beloved canine companion, Poope Lee; along with numerous extended family members and friends.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Delores and brother, James Jackson.
