Junior Ernest Browning, 80, of Poplar Bluff died Sunday, June 7, 2009 at his residence.

Mr. Browning was born Sept. 7, 1928 in Ripley County. He was of the Baptist faith, and was a retired self-employed mechanic. Mr. Browning enjoyed spending time with his family, playing the guitar and writing music, playing checkers, gardening and fishing.

On Jan. 11, 1952 he married Viola Marie Richmond. She preceded him in death on July 6, 2000.

Survivors include his daughter, Rhoda Crihfield and husband Terry of Poplar Bluff; grandchildren: Jerald Browning, Travis Crihfield, Trevor Crihfield and Trent Crihfield; great-granddaughter, Cheyenne Buhler; sister, Mabel Graham of Poplar Bluff; and brothers, Clifford Browning and wife Jessie ""Penny"", Rollie Browning and wife Menon and James ""Jim"" Browning all of Poplar Bluff.

His parents, James A. and Katherine (Burgess) Browning; son, Jerry Ernest Browning; sisters, Ila Whitmer, Della Graham and Janivee Schenewerk, and brothers, Woodrow ""Doc"" Browning, Gilbert ""Slim"" Browning and Bill Browning preceded Mr. Browning in death.

Visitation will be from 6 - 8 p.m. Tuesday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Chapel with the Rev. Vernon Kneir officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
