Junior McKeel, 90, of Doniphan, Mo., died Thursday, July 23, 2015 at Southeast Health Center of Ripley County.
Mr. McKeel was born Nov. 26, 1924 in Parma, Mo. He attended Westpoint Pentecostal Church in Doniphan and was a masonry contractor, having worked in Poplar Bluff as well as California, Texas and Louisiana. Mr. McKeel enjoyed working, collecting things, fishing and gardening.
On Sept. 24, 2013, he married Mary Parks at Calvary Baptist Church. She survives of the home. Mr. McKeel was previously married to Elsie Mae Clark McKeel and they had one son, Jerry. He later married Evelyn Givens McKeel and they had two children, Vera and Danny. Danny preceded him in 1969. He later married Billy June Doty McKeel, who also preceded him in death.
Other survivors include two children: Jerry Paul (Sara) of Seymour, Mo., and Vera Ruth Baker of Poplar Bluff; grandchildren: Becky Blackwell-Gowen (Carl), Cynthia Blackwell-McWilliams (David), Dannie Baker McCoy (Steven), Quint Paul (Laura), Karen Jolley, Nancy Hammer (Pete) and Michael Paul; and; 17 great-grandchildren: Jason Ray Stone, Jeffrey Cade King, Brett Lee McCoy, Lukas Grant McCoy, Memphys Grace McCoy, Sara Fenstemaker, Rick Hammer, Zachary Paul, Brandon Paul, Jessica Paul, Nathan Paul, Katherine Paul, Amanda Jolley, Dylan Paul, Gregory Paul, Emily Paul and Zachary Weddle; and eight great-great-grandchildren: Ashley Marae Stone, Penelope Ray Stone, Sebastian James Stone, Caleb Hammer, Sam Paul, William Fenstemaker, Alexander Hammer and Augustus Weddle; four sisters: Libby Tinker of Sarasota, Fla., Betty Sue McKeel of St Louis, Alberta Watson of Bernie and Margie Schook of California; two brothers, Bob McKeel of Hartville, Mo. and Donald McKeel of Florida; two nieces Carol and Elaine; a nephew, Roger all of Bernie; Junior's wife, Mary's family; and a host of other family and friends.
In addition to his son, Danny and wife, Billie, he was also preceded in death by his father, Roy William McKeel, his mother, Vivian Hinzy Morrison, a sister, Vera Jean Nunn; and two brothers. Jim Morrison and Eddie Morrison.
The visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with Brother Chuck Carr officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Poplar Bluff.
