Jurial Orbin (J.O.) Barnett, 85 of Poplar Bluff, passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2020 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
J.O. was born on September 4, 1934 in Arlberg, AR, the son of Alfred James and Vernia Belle (Mcmurtry) Barnett. On June 28, 1959 he married Bonnie Corrine Ivy at Lone Hill Baptist Church in Butler County, MO. Together the have shared over sixty years of marriage.
J.O. retired in 1999 after having owned and operated Gas-a-mat, Poplar Bluff’s first self-serve gas station and Courtesy Auto Parts Store.
J.O. was a member of Lone Hill Baptist Church where he served faithfully as a Deacon. J.O. was a man of deep faith who was well-respected in the community. He enjoyed Camping, Swimming and Gardening.
The highlight of his life was his family, he greatly enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, J.O. is survived by, five children, Cindy (Ed) Abernatha of Poplar Bluff, Charles (Shelia) Barnett of Poplar Bluff, John (Angie) Barnett of St. Charles, MO, Scotty (Angie) Barnett of Poplar Bluff and Andrew (Tracyie) Barnett of Poplar Bluff; six grandchildren, Cassie (Josh) Miller of Harviell, MO, Ashley Barnett of Poplar Bluff, Kaitlyn Barnett of Poplar Bluff, Stetson Prater of Poplar Bluff, Savannah Barnett of Poplar Bluff and Dustyn Barnett of Columbia, MO; four great-grandchildren, Ryleigh Boyer, Maverick Miller, Ace Miller and Zaidyn Barnett. Other survivors include his siblings, Wanda Gardner of WA, Shelby Barnett of WA, Stella Huey of Clinton, AR and Verda (Rick) Collins of Conway, AR and several nieces and nephews.
J.O. was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, Elijah, Clayton, Charlie, J.V. and Dean Barnett and one sister, Lorene Parker.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 17, 2020 from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service in the chapel at Moore Funeral Service, 1100 Iron Bridge Road, Poplar Bluff, MO.
Funeral services will begin at 6:00 p.m. with Pastor Truman Chapman officiating.
