Karen Jean Thornburgh Johnson, 69, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., died Thursday, April 24, 2014 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Johnson was born Feb. 24, 1945 in Zalma, Mo. She was a member of the First General Baptist Church, where she also served as director of the choir. Mrs. Johnson had retired as an office manager for a home health service. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, singing, reading and listening to old music.

On Feb. 13, 1967, she married Terry Johnson in Poplar Bluff. He survives of the home.

Other survivors include three sons: Terry Wayne Johnson II (Andrea), of Springfield, Mo., Kenneth Ashley Johnson (Deborah), of Ellsinore, Mo., and David Roy Johnson (Vicky), of Lohman, Mo.; four grandchildren: Taylor Nicole Johnson, Cameron Michael Johnson, Jacob Edwin Johnson and Hailey Elizabeth Johnson; two sisters: Bernice Wright and Linda Hackworth, both of Poplar Bluff; two brothers: Crandall Thornburgh and Robert Thornburgh, both of Poplar Bluff; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Her parents, Benjamin Edwin and Hattie Alzina Robinson Thornburgh, and a brother, Brian Thornburgh preceded her in death.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the First General Baptist Church, 1801 North Main St., in Poplar Bluff with Dr. Dick Murray officiating. Burial will follow at Poplar Bluff City Cemetery.
