Katherine Sue Wells

Katherine Sue Wells, 63, of Poplar Bluff, passed away Sunday, October 27th, 2019, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. Katherine, or Kathy, as she was affectionately called, the daughter of Virgil and Mary Richter, was born April 15th, 1956.

Kathy married Michael Alan Wells, her middle school sweetheart, to whom she remained married for 44 years. Even from the young age of 14, she was loyal in the midst of difficult times as she sat by her future husband’s hospital bedside after a life-changing accident. Along with great loyalty, she was strong and hardworking, qualities she would give to her daughters, Michelle Lynn and Katie Rae.

Kathy’s joy was found in the closeness of her family, enjoying such activities with them as camping, fishing, and gardening. She found joy in making and finding gifts for those that she loved.

In her passing, Katherine Wells is survived by her husband Michael, and her daughters Michelle (Craig) Wilson, Katie (Christopher) Pearson. She will be greatly missed by seven grandchildren-Christian (18), Morgan (16), Canaan (13), Nevaeh (12), Gracie (11), Carson (9), and Zachary (4).

Missing her in the years to come will also be her father in law-Clay Kaestner, three surviving sisters-Lois Hall, Nancy Thompson, and Adele Ewing-and two brothers-Walter Richter and George Caskey also brothers-Robert Wells, Fredrick Wells and sister Mary Wells. Many will mourn her absence including nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and numerous loved ones. She was preceded in death by her two parents, Mary Richter and Virgil Richter, brother Virgil Richter Jr. and Albert James (Jay) Wells and mother in law Shirley Wells.

She was an office administrator for Williamsville Stone Quarry for over 15 years where she was deeply loved and highly respected by coworkers and customers alike.

Visitation will be from 5-7 pm Thursday at Cotrell Funeral Home, with a Friday Mass at Sacred Heart Church starting at 10:30 am. If anyone would like to send flowers please have them sent to Cotrell Funeral Home, 701 Vine Street, Poplar Bluff, MO 63901.--
