Kathern M. Riley

Kathern M. Riley, 97, of Poplar Bluff, MO., entered Heaven’s gates Friday, June 22, 2018 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Riley, the daughter of the late Robert B. and Millie Rice Rushin, was born July 8, 1920 in Poplar Bluff. She was a member of Memorial Baptist Church and had retired in 1983 as a sales clerk for Newberry’s Department Store. She enjoyed spending time with her family, sewing, crafts and oil painting.

She married James D. Riley on Oct. 6, 1945 in St. Louis, MO. He preceded her in death on Dec. 14, 1996.

Other survivors include a nephew and caregiver Joe Knuckles and wife Karen of Poplar Bluff; and a host of other nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Riley was preceded in death by an infant son, Ronald Dean Berry; six brothers, Billie D. Rushin, Robert R. Rushin, Jack D. Rushin, Paul R. Rushin, Kenneth T. Rushin and Virgil Rushin; and two sisters, Elaine Knuckles and Alta Chance.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 27 at Cotrell Funeral Chapel with the funeral following at 11 a.m. The Rev. Bill Orr will officiate. Burial will be at Cochran Cemetery in Butler County.
