Kathleen Devonne (Oconnell) Tuma

Kathleen D. O'Connell Tuma, 97, of Scott City, Mo., formerly of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Thursday, March 24, 2016 at Chaffee Nursing Center in Chaffee, Mo.

Mrs. Tuma, the daughter of the late John C. and Mary Dickinson O'Connell, was born June 11, 1918 in Phillips County, Mont. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Poplar Bluff. After receiving a B.S. degree in Chemistry from North Dakota State University, Mrs. Tuma entered the field of medical technology from which she retired. She loved to spend time with her family and being active. In her later years, she enjoyed genealogy research on her computer.

On Sept. 26, 1942, she married Dr. Arthur T. Tuma in Miami, Fla. He preceded her in death on Jan. 21, 1989.

Survivors include two children: Darcy O. (Lawrence) Braun of Cape Girardeau, Mo. and Edwin D. (Donnalou) Tuma of Junction City, Ark.; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers: Michael (Phyllis) Darcy of Portland, Oreg., and Bob O'Connell of Big Timber, Mont.; a sister-in-law, Jodie Darcy of Merritt Island, Fla.; and a special friend of her deceased son, Jeanette Morrow of Sacramento, Calif.

A son, Douglas A. Tuma, a grandchild and a brother, Patrick Darcy also preceded Mrs. Tuma in death.

A graveside service and burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Poplar Bluff with Rev. David Stewart officiating.
