Katie Ruth Kobeck, 82, of Poplar Bluff, passed away Thursday, Aug. 13, 2015 at her residence.
Mrs. Kobeck was born Jan. 26, 1933 in Tiptonville, Tenn., to the late Neely and Nellie (Calvert) Decker. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff and was a homemaker. During her earlier years, she worked in garment factories in New Madrid as well as Poplar Bluff. Mrs. Kobeck enjoyed spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, watching Cardinal’s baseball and Mules football, sewing and sitting on her porch reading her Bible.
On Oct. 10, 1949, she married Hufert Thomas Kobeck in Piggott, Ark. He preceded her in death on Sept. 3, 2007.
Survivors include two daughters: Carrie Simmons (Gary) of Poplar Bluff and Sandra Hanna (Mark) of Yuma, Ariz.; five grandchildren: Daphane Chandler, Tabitha Kirkpatrick, Ginger LeQuieu, Joe Hanna and Drew Simmons; five great-grandchildren: Morgan Kirkpatrick, Kendal LeQuieu, Haylee Chandler, Cam Hanna and Ace LeQuieu.
Mrs. Kobeck was also preceded in death by two brothers, Jay and Calbert Robert “Bub” and three sisters, Princess, Frances and Maggie.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church with Dr. William Vail officiating and her grandson, Rev. Drew Simmons assisting. Burial will be at Wardell Memorial Cemetery in Wardell, Mo.
