Keith August Broege, Sr., 77, of Harviell died Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Broege was born Nov. 2, 1933 in Charles City, Iowa. He was a self-employed building contractor. Mr. Broege was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in Korea and was awarded a Nation Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal and Korean Service Medal w/2 Bronze Service Stars. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, and taking care of his horses, dogs and other animals.
On March 25, 1953, he married Beverly Joan Smith in Charles City, Iowa. She survives.
Other survivors include 9 children, Terry Rhyne and husband Charles, Keith A. Broege, Jr. and wife Kathy and Robin Harper and husband Leon all of Poplar Bluff, Ted Broege, Sr. and Mark Broege, Sr. and wife Debbie all of Fisk, Mo., Jeff Broege of Richfield, Minn., Sheryl Tomlin and husband Bud of Williamsville, Michael Broege, Sr. of Harviell, and Steven Broege, Sr. and wife Sheri of Paducah, Ky.; 20 grandchildren, Loralee Johnston, Rene' Crowder, Keith Broege III, Christy Broege, Stephanie Broege, Tiffany Broege, Latisha Stelken and husband Nick, Alan Rowcliffe, Amanda Rowcliffe, Michael Broege, Jr. and wife Ashley, Cassie Dunn and husband Kenneth, Stormi Broege, Kirsten Broege, Mark Broege, Jr., Daniel Broege, Landis Broege, Jessica Means and husband Nathan, Steven Broege Jr., Jenna Broege and Jathan Harper and wife Alanna; 31 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
His parents, Fred August and Helen Geraldine (Klock) Broege, son, John Christopher Broege, grandson, Ted Broege, Jr. and sister, Jean Varner preceded Mr. Broege in death.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in the chapel with Bro. Jearl Griffin officiating. Burial will be at the City Cemetery in Poplar Bluff.
