Kenneth Ray "Kenny" Helton

Kenneth R. "Kenny" Helton, 66, a lifelong resident of Poplar Bluff, passed away Thursday, July 2, 2015 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center lovingly surrounded by his family.

Mr. Helton, son of the late James Charles Helton and Helen (Withrow) Harris, was born Oct. 10, 1948 in Butler County. He was of the Baptist faith, and had worked as a mechanic and truck driver. Mr. Helton enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, fishing, and gardening. He loved nature and dearly loved his sisters. Since the death of his father, he was the patriarch of the family.

Survivors include his partner of six years, Betty Kelso of the home; a daughter, Janea Marie (Greg) White of Poplar Bluff; stepson, Anthony Dean Metcalf of Dallas, Texas; three grandchildren: Rachael and Hannah Metcalf and Shelly White; three sisters: Linda (George) Wolff of Ft. Myers, Fla., Sharon Watson of Longview, Texas and Sheila Lewis of White Oak, Texas; a brother, James Charles Helton, Jr. of Poplar Bluff and many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

The visitation will begin at noon Monday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will follow at 1:30 p.m. in the Chapel with Rev. Gary Hancock officiating. Interment will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Old Oak Hill Cemetery in Butler County.
