Kenneth Ray King

Aug 19, 1943 — Aug 17, 2026

Poplar Bluff, Missouri

Kenneth Ray King, 82, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, left this Earth on Monday, August 17, 2026. He was born on August 19th, 1943, to the late Nelson and Bammie King, in Malden, Missouri.

Kenny grew up to be someone people naturally looked up to. “Mr. King”, was often admired for his leadership skills and ability to be the boss, while also maintaining an approachable and kind personality. He was the Executive Director of the Poplar Bluff Housing Authority for over 30 years before retiring. He also contributed to his community by serving on the Board of Directors for both the Poplar Bluff Parks & Recreation Department and the United Gospel Rescue Mission.

In his younger years, he was known for his vibrant spirit and love for music. If you gave him a vodka and seven, put on some ZZ Top and then he could really cut a rug on the dance floor. He also enjoyed baseball, traveling and shopping. As life slowed down, he learned to appreciate and enjoy the simple things in life; such as going out to eat, Sonic runs, and cruising through car lots to search for his newest ride. Although Kenny showed great leadership in his professional life, his most profound accomplishment and legacy was his family. He used to confidently say that he would live forever; and in a way, he was right... His strength, guidance, and unforgettable spirit will live on forever.

Kenny is survived by his loving wife, Trish King; son, Mike (Angie) King; three daughters, Kendra (Mike) Boyer, Jenna (Michael) Long, and Dara Seabaugh. He also leaves behind several grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will carry on his legacy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Nelson and Bammie; two brothers, Bobby King and Jimmy King; sister, Joann Underwood.
