Kenneth Allen Sanders

Kenneth Allen Sanders, 78, of Poplar Bluff, MO passed away Thursday, July 24, 2025, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Ken was born on April 6, 1947, to Louie and Thelma (Avance) Sanders in Fort Riley, Kansas. He married Sherry Robichaud on August 06, 2016, in Stafford, Virginia.

Upon graduating from Arkansas State University in 1969, Ken was commissioned as an Army Intelligence Officer. He served in Berlin, Germany and ultimately achieved the rank of Major in both Active Duty and Army Reserve. He later served 40 years as a Department of the Army Civilian in the Intelligence field. In his retirement years, Ken and Sherry spent much of their time caring for and interacting with neighborhood cats. Ken never met a stranger and truly enjoyed interacting with others. He was always sure to greet new neighbors with a warm smile and box of pastries or some other thoughtful welcoming gift. Bringing his neighbors closer together brought him much joy. Ken was a history buff, genealogist enthusiast and coin collector.

Ken is survived by his wife, Sherry Robichaud-Sanders; two brothers, Louie T. Sanders Jr. and wife Linda and Robert W. Sanders and wife Ann; special cousin and friend, Steve Sanders; stepdaughter, Erin Robichaud; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents, MSG Louie T. Sanders Sr. and Thelma F. (Avance) Sanders.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 01, 2025, from 11:00-12:00pm at Cotrell Willow Ridge Funeral & Cremation Services. Funeral service will follow beginning at Noon with Pastor Shiela Boyles officiating. Burial will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery in Poplar Bluff.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Animal Welfare Alliance of Southeast Missouri.
