Kitsey Catherine (Cornett) Shepard

Kitsey Catherine Shepard, 80, of the Stringtown community of Butler County, passed away, Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2015 at her residence.

Mrs. Shepard was born Feb. 4, 1934 in Oklahoma to the late John and Mona (Bailey) Cornett. She was a member of Kerns Chapel Church in Stringtown and was a homemaker. Mrs. Shepard enjoyed reading, sewing, gardening, scrapbooking and making dolls.

On Sept. 15, 1950 she was married to Frankie Shepard in Pocahontas, Ark. He preceded her in death.

Survivors include two children, Michael Shepard (Harriet), of Poplar Bluff and Debra Shepard, of Stringtown; six grandchildren: Jonathan Shepard, Amber Shepard, Tim Shepard, Kelly Dove, Kurt Humphrey and Lindsey Buffington; 12 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; two sisters: Gwen Shepard and Lula Mae Humphrey, both of Stringtown; two brothers, John Cornett, of Wentzville, Mo. and Richard Cornett, of Warrenton, Mo.; a brother-in-law, Calvin Shepard of Stringtown; and many nieces and nephews.

A daughter, Donna Humphrey and a sister, Hazel Capper also preceded Mrs. Shepard in death.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Kerns Chapel Church in Stringtown with Pastor Jimmy Bruce officiating. Burial will follow at Kerns Chapel Cemetery.
