Lebern Lee Eugene Cummings

Lebern ""Lee"" Eugene Cummings, 85, of Poplar Bluff, passed away Tuesday, February 11, 2014, at Poplar Bluff Regional Hospital.

Mr. Cummings was born in Tupelo, MS on August 28, 1928, to the late Mosby C. and Katie Mills Cummings.

On August 13, 1976, he and Doris Evelyn Lindsay were married in Poplar Bluff, she survives of the home.

Mr. Cummings was a member of Calvary General Baptist Church. He served his country for 26 combined years, first in the U.S. Army, continuing with the U.S. Marines and retiring with the U.S. Navy. He enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening, playing guitar and singing gospel music, and at one time he raised cattle.

He is survived by his wife, his daughter; Maryann Hampton ( Scott) of Irving, TX, step daughters; Joan D. Everts (Don) of Poplar Bluff, Janet Marie Green ( Harold) and Brenda Jean Stilwell, all of Hardinsburg, KY, six grandchildren: Debbie Everts, Miranda Humphrey, David Green, MacKenzie Thompson, Laura Bogert, and Gary Stilwell, sixteen great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters.

Visitation at Cotrell Funeral Chapel will begin at 12:30 p.m. Thursday and continue until time of funeral services, at 1:30p.m. Pastor Larry Jordan will be officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow at City Cemetery.
