Lela Mae Crusoe was born May 26, 1932 in Webster County, Miss. to Obediah Marshall and Vera Hardy.
On Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013 at 12:20 p.m. at Poplar Bluff Regional Center in Poplar Bluff Missouri, Lela departed this life for eternal life with the Lord at the age of 81.
Lela was a member of House of Prayer, Church of God In Christ in Parma, Mo. She loved the Lord.
Lela was a homemaker and was a God-fearing Christian. She will be missed by all who knew her and remembered by her family for her strength, her love and perseverance. She had a love for gardening, yard work and sewing.
She leaves to cherish her memories seven children: Minnie Gatewood (Dwight), Barbara Nelson (Don) and Rodger Johnson of Poplar Bluff, and his wife, Sandra Johnson of Springfield, Mo., Shirley Crusoe of Parma, Mo., Lezet Murphy (Ron) of New Madrid, Robert Crusoe (Latrice) of Texas and Henry Crusoe (Tonia) of Maryland; grandchildren: Natoya Johnson of Poplar Bluff, Likicia Hawes of Tennessee, Bobby Dean of Texas, Latasha Jones of Malden, Mo.,Precious Hughes of Poplar Bluff, Thomas Johnson of Lilbourn, Alisha Moore (Patrick) Antonia Johann (Shaun) of Sikeston, Mo., Joshua Waters and Amanda Waters of Barlow, Ky., Brandon Waters and Quinton Wright of New Madrid, Nicole Thomas of Tennessee, Alexander Crusoe of Maryland, and Iris Johnson and fiance, Ernest Barnett; great-grandchildren: Taylo Dean, Kmarielle Thomas, Collin Dean, Shurae Hughes, Dyamand Smith, Thomas Johnson, Jr., Zequoia Johnson, Tamiya Johnson, India Burton, Brandon Burton, Jaden Johann, Tyler Johann, Jared Waters, Alayia Waters, Brandon Waters, Jr., Briley Waters, Branasia Waters, Nahla Field, Payton Johnson, Kaelib Moore, and Mya Johnson; a sister, Mary Jewel Dean of Miss.; and two brothers, Herbert Marshall and Harvey Marshall both of Florida.
A daughter, Betty Johnson, three brothers, Sterling Marshall, O.C. Marshall and Clarence Marshall, and a great grandchild, Lela Moore, proceeded her in death.
Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m in the funeral chapel with Pastor Leroy Williams officiating. Interment will be at the City Cemetery in Poplar Bluff.
