Lela Q. Rainwater, 84, of Jackson, Mo., formerly of Poplar Bluff died Thursday, Sept. 1, 2011 at Monticello House in Jackson.
Mrs. Rainwater was born Sept. 17, 1926 in Buckhorn, Mo. She was a member of Fellowship General Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher for many years, and had previously worked in sales at Gift Chest Jewelers. Mrs. Rainwater enjoyed spending time with her family, going to church, quilting and sewing.
On May 3, 1947, she married Homer L. Rainwater in Greenville, Mo. Mr. Rainwater preceded her in death on July 19, 2001.
Survivors include her daughter, Linda Thompson of Jackson, Mo.; grandsons, Scott Fischer and wife Tara and Jeff Fischer and wife Angie all of Jackson, Mo.; great-grandchildren, Coley Leimbach, Logan Fischer, Brady Fischer, Chase Fischer and Tyler Fischer; sisters, Letha Skaggs of Silva, Mo. and Jean Webber and husband Joe of Maryville, Ill.; brother, Henry Stevens and wife Melva of Cahokia, Ill.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will follow at 11:30 a.m. at the Chapel with Rev. Byron Beck officiating. Burial will be at City Cemetery in Poplar Bluff.
