Lenora Maye Ovenshire, 82, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2025, at her home in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, and is now resting in the arms of her loving Savior. Lenora was born on May 22, 1943, to Ryburn Owen Grissom and Mae Ruth Elizabeth Howard in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. She married Kenneth Ovenshire on August 18, 1962, in Arcadia, California.
Lenora is survived by her husband, Ken, of 63 years. Also mourning her passing are their four children, Kenny, Laura, Kimberly, and Roger, who they raised in southern California before retiring to Poplar Bluff. Lenora was blessed with eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, of whom she adored.
Lenora was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Larry Grissom, and sister, Janice Perry.
Lenora was a gifted artist in many fields. She put those talents to practice through her cooking, sewing, piano playing, gardening, writing, and her newest passion, painting. She created beauty with everything she touched. She enjoyed making and collecting dolls and teddy bears. She made the best biscuits and gravy ever! While she enjoyed her pursuits here on earth, it was her faith that sustained her during her many years of physical challenges. She was a devoted wife who loved unconditionally. She was a mother who truly cherished her children and made sure they all knew Jesus. She was a prayer warrior, and every part of her life and legacy points to the Cross.
Though she is no longer with us, we hold tightly to the hope of being reunited with her one day.
Graveside service will be at 2pm on Friday, August 1, 2025, at the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery.
