Leon William Arbuckle, 76, of Poplar Bluff died Friday, Dec. 31, 2010 at Oakdale Care Center in Poplar Bluff.
Mr. Arbuckle was born Sept. 1, 1934 in St. Joseph, Mo. He was a member of Southside Assembly of God, and was a retired farmer. Mr. Arbuckle also had worked for the Poplar Bluff School District and at Pizza Hut. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during the Korean Conflict and awarded a Korean Service Medal with 3 Stars; China Service Medal; United Nation Medal and National Defense Service Medal. Mr. Arbuckle was a former member of the Eagles Lodge and V.F.W. He was a handyman and carpenter and enjoyed woodworking, painting figurines, tinkering on cars and dressing them up.
Survivors include a son, Leon Eddie Arbuckle and wife Tammy of Poplar Bluff; 5 grandchildren, Michael Arbuckle, Joshua Arbuckle, Colt Arbuckle, Kylie Arbuckle and Trevor Arbuckle; 2 step-grandchildren, Devini Engle and Tyler Burkhart; 4 great-grandchildren, Courtney Arbuckle, Isabell Arbuckle, Kameron Arbuckle and Jaylnn Harlee Engle; 4 sisters, Irma Jean Wolf of Franklin Grove, Ill, Sharon Pipkins, Ruth H. Carl and husband Ronnie and Marsha E. Bostic and husband Norman all of Poplar Bluff and 2 brothers, LeRoy A. Arbuckle and wife Delores of Poplar Bluff and Dale Arbuckle and wife Carol of Belvedere, Ill.
His parents, George and Helen (Fouts) Arbuckle, daughter, Debbie Arbuckle Ellison, sister, Delores Ann Arbuckle and brothers, Donald Arbuckle and Delbert Arbuckle preceded him in death.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel. The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in the Chapel with Rev. Jerry Lemons officiating. Burial with full military honors will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Poplar Bluff.
