Leon Fredwell, 82, of Poplar Bluff died Thursday, March 26, 2009 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Fredwell was born Feb. 7, 1927 in Advance, and was a member of First Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff. Employed for 20 years as a salesman with Hewlett Meat Co. he later retired from United Termite and Pest Control. Mr. Fredwell was also a veteran of the United States Army, and one of the early founders of the Butler County Volunteer Fire Dept. He enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandchildren, fishing and camping.
On May 14, 1950 he married Norma Anthony in Piggott, Ark. She survives.
Other survivors include his son: Robert Lee Fredwell and wife Michelle of Poplar Bluff; grandsons: Robby Lee Fredwell and wife Tanya and Jeffrey Lynn Fredwell all of Poplar Bluff; three great-grandchildren: Tyler, Fredwell, Trevor Fredwell and Elizabeth Fredwell; step-great grandchild, Kenny Gipson; sister, Louise Fredwell, of Advance; and brother, Melvin Propst of Bloomfield.
His parents, Roy and Alberta (Phillips) Fredwell and daughter, Linda Louise Fredwell preceded Mr. Fredwell in death.
Visitation will be from 6 - 8 p.m. Sunday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in the Chapel with Dr. Bill Vail officiating. Burial will be at Sparkman Cemetery in Butler County.
