Leonard Ulysses Jones, 84, of Overland Park, Kans., formerly of Poplar Bluff, died Sunday, Feb. 14, 2010 at St. Luke's South Hospital in Overland Park.
Mr. Jones was born Aug. 12, 1925 in Williamsville. While living in Poplar Bluff he and his wife were very active members of First United Methodist Church. In 1987, Mr. Jones retired from Union Pacific Railroad. He was a veteran of the U. S. Marines, and was a member of the V.F.W. Mr. Jones enjoyed all types of sports, especially golf and baseball, and running. He was also an active supporter of the TRCC Raiders.
On Dec. 13, 1952 he married Mary Louise Nash in Poplar Bluff. She survives.
Other survivors include his daughter, Cindy Horowitz and husband Jay of Overland Park, Kans.; grandson, Casey Horowitz; brother, Floyd Jones of Poplar Bluff; stepbrother, Bob Montgomery of Poplar Bluff; sister, Betty Crabtree of Little Rock, Ark.; and close family friends, Mr. And Mrs. Larry Dare.
His parents, Floyd and Osa (Bell) Jones preceded Mr. Jones in death.
Visitation will be from 6 - 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 18th at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Charles Buck officiating and the Rev. Steve Patterson assisting. Burial with full military honors will be at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Poplar Bluff.
