Leroy Burgess

Leroy Burgess, 65, of Poplar Bluff, passed away on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 in Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Leroy was born on January 26, 1954 in Oak Ridge, TN the son of Junior and Virdie (Armes) Burgess. On September 2, 1972 he married Glenda Mae Franchville in Crown Point, IN. Together they have shared over 47 years of marriage.

Leroy enjoyed many things in life including, racing , working on cars, building thing, camping and fishing. He loved spending time with his family and teaching others.

Leroy is survived by, his wife, Glenda Mae Burgess of Poplar Bluff; a daughter, Carol Lee Day of St. Joseph, MO; three grandchildren, Jessica (Kevin) Sadler of Cedar Rapids, IA, David Michael Day of St. Joseph, MO and Brandon Kirk of South Haven, IN; a nephew, Russell (Carol) Burgess of Poplar Bluff, two nieces, Angela (Ralph) Campbell of Poplar Bluff and Diane Martinez of Indianapolis, IN. Other survivors include, his great nieces and nephews and the Franchville, Alfaro and Reaser families and many special friends.

In addition to his parents and siblings, Leroy was preceded in death by, two sons, Michael Leroy Burgess and Jason Ray Burgess and a son-in-law, Robert Day.

A service celebrating Leroy’s life will be held on Monday, October 7, 2019 at 5:00 p.m. in The Lord’s Chapel, County Road 605 in Poplar Bluff, with Pastor Rowdy Boyers officiating.
