Lisa Marie Yeager

Oct 11, 1955 — Sep 11, 2026

Cape Girardeau, Missouri

Lisa Marie Yeager, 70, of Cape Girardeau, MO, passed away Friday, September 11, 2026, at St. Joseph Hospital in St. Charles, Missouri.

Lisa was born on October 11, 1955, to Charles William and Minnie Mae (Fulton) Wisdom in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. She married Bruce Edward Yeager on March 29, 1980, also in Poplar Bluff.

Lisa was a proud member of the Poplar Bluff graduating class of 1974. She later earned her bachelor’s in teaching from Arkansas State University in 1984, as well as her Master of Science and Education in 1989. Lisa was a very spiritual person. She became a member of First Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff in 1984. Lisa was an active supporter of extracurricular school programs and community organizations. She led the D.A.R.E. Program, volunteered her time with Boys and Girls Club of the Heartland, as well as Girl Scouts. Lisa also made many lasting connections through her lifetime sorority membership with Beta Sigma Phi.

Often working three jobs to make ends meet, Lisa never shied away from hard work and was willing to do whatever necessary to provide for her family. She also served as a caregiver for multiple family members in failing health. Lisa was quick to help where needed and slow to complain. Her passion and dedication were a brilliant example for her loved ones.

Lisa's passionate, caring, and selfless nature touched the lives of all those who knew her. Throughout her 25-year teaching career she went above and beyond for her students; from keeping the snack drawer stocked for kids that didn't have breakfast, to buying winter coats for those who would have otherwise gone without, as well as loaning her former students money as they pursued college. In addition to being an educator, she lovingly opened her home to host 38 high school foreign exchange students. Lisa’s warm and welcoming personality had a way of making others feel seen and inspired. She not only made a lasting impact on her students but was also known as an excellent mentor to her fellow teachers.

Lisa enjoyed traveling in her spare time. She had proudly visited all 50 states, 5 continents, 18 countries in Europe, as well as went on 60 cruises! She especially treasured her travels to Disneyworld with Angie and Aryanna. In recent years, Lisa focused her energy and time on creating a lasting legacy for her family. With the help of Holly and the boys, she designed and built Inspiration Village, a tiny home Airbnb in Cape Girardeau.

Lisa is survived by her daughter, Holly Hill Yeager; three grandchildren, Zane (Liv), Peyton (Alexa), and Trey Lintner; cousins, Angela Anderson and her daughter, Aryanna Anderson and Ben “Popeye” Anderson; niece, Shelli Sue Wisdom; nephew, Charles Steven Wisdom II (Barbie); great nephew, Charles Steven Wisdom III; sister-in-law, Sheila Wisdom; canine companion, Betsy and feline companion, Star; along with countless extended family members, friends, colleagues, and students.

Lisa was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Wisdom and Minnie Wisdom Muskopf; stepfather, Russell Muskopf; husband, Bruce Yeager; brother, Charles Steven Wisdom I; infant sister, Lanette Ann Wisdom; two special aunts, Anna Brown and Havis Anderson.
