Lloyd Lee Surber

Lloyd Lee Surber, 89, of Poplar Bluff passed away Saturday, May 10, 2014 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Surber was born May 24, 1924 in Rector AR to the late Ernest and Eura Mae Gooch Surber. He was a member of Neelyville United Methodist Church, and he was a retired farmer. Mr. Surber proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946. He enjoyed spending time with his family and being outdoors.

In June 1, 1946, he married Inez Mittelhauser in Corning, AR. She preceded him in death on Dec. 20, 2008.

Survivors include his daughter, Letty Jean McDowell, of Poplar Bluff; four grandchildren: Jennifer Lynn Surber, Amy Marie Surber, Kelly Ann Batchelor (Mike) and Clayton Lee McDowell; three great-grandchildren: Tyler Lee McDowell, Kynzy Lynn Batchelor and Mallory Inez McDowell; and sister, Eva Hopkins of Paragould, AR.

A son, Dennis Surber, and three brothers, James G. Surber, Marion Jewell Surber and William Carl Surber also preceded Mr. Surber in death.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral chapel with Rev. Jean Dicken officiating and Pastor Kent Wilfong assisting. Burial will be at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Poplar Bluff.
