Lloyd R. Whitmer, 68, of Poplar Bluff, died September 5, 2008 at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. Mr. Whitmer was born November 4, 1939 to the late Andrew Allen and Bertha Leona (Dunlap) Whitmer in Poplar Bluff. He was a wholesaler and retailer of used furniture and enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting, fishing and flea marketing.
In 1974 he was married to Sondra Cox in St. Louis and she survives.
Also surviving are 3 daughters, Tammy Crouse and husband Richard, Lynda Whitmer, Sheila Wartenbe and husband Brian, all of Poplar Bluff, 2 sons, Michael Whitmer and wife Donna of Hornersville, and Alan Whitmer and wife Kandice of Naylor; 4 grandchildren, Elizabeth Whitmer, Andrew Whitmer, Logan Whitmer and Justin Wartenbe; 3 sisters, Marjorie Nunn and Vivian Sanner both of Poplar Bluff and Joyce Upchurch of Jonesboro, Ark.; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding Mr. Whitmer in death were his parents, a granddaughter Heather Wartenbe, 2 brothers, Floyd Whitmer and Gene Whitmer and one sister, Lorene Blakeney.
Visitation will be at 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home chapel with Mr. Vernon Curry officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Poplar Bluff.
