Lois Bumpus

Lois Ann Bumpus, 72, of Poplar Bluff, passed away on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

She was born on December 10, 1945 in Hollywood, FL. She graduated from Oak Ridge High School in Oak Ridge, TN in 1964. On September 10, 1965 she married Jim Bumpus in Oak Ridge, TN. He preceded her in death on February 17, 2006.

Lois worked with her husband, Jim, at Bluff Lanes Bowling Alley for many years. In the early 1980's she started one of the first support groups for multiple sclerosis in Poplar Bluff. For as long as she was able, she enjoyed painting. Most of all she loved spending time with her family and watching her grandchildren grow up.

Lois is survived by two children, Stacey (Jimmy) Vernon and Robert Bumpus, both of Poplar Bluff, MO; one step-son, Marco Berryhill, of Cordova, TN; four grandchildren, Zhoe Bumpus, Audrey Bumpus, Carr Vernon, and Chloe Vernon all of Poplar Bluff, MO; one sister, Evelyn Zang of Oak Ridge, TN; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents, Harold and Carol (McClune) Zang, one brother, Robert Ballantine; and one sister, Carol Beardsley.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. at Moore Funeral Service in Poplar Bluff.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Poplar Bluff. Burial will take place in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

The family would like to thank all of the caregivers, nurses, doctors, organizations, and friends who came to the house to help Lois and her family over the years. The care and compassion that each one of you showed the family during this time is appreciated beyond words.
