Lois Marie (Woods) Nimmers

Lois Marie Nimmers, 75 of Poplar Bluff, passed away Friday, February 28, 2014, at her residence.

Mrs. Nimmers was born February 4, 1939 in Poplar Bluff to the late (Ike) Isaiah and Laura (Curry) Woods.

In 1966 she married Clarence Nimmers in Los Angeles, CA., he preceded her in death in 1993.

Mrs. Nimmers lived most of her adult life in California, where she was a member of New Beginning Missionary Baptist Church, and retired as a custodian with the Los Angeles School District. She moved back to Poplar Bluff in 2009. Mrs. Nimmers enjoyed spending time with family and friends at barbeques and fish fry's. She also loved cooking, camping, fishing, and most of all dancing.

She is survived by her daughter, Janice Mason, of St. Louis; two sons, Dennis Woods and Isaiah Gene Sanders, Sr. both of Poplar Bluff; two sisters, Joyce Mosley of Ontario, CA, and Charlotte Ijei of Chesterfield, MO; a brother, Donald Woods of Ft. Worth, TX; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; a godson; and several nieces and nephews.

Three sisters, Patricia Wilson, Barbara Patterson, and Penelope Hawes; and two brothers, Nathanyiel Battles, and Billy Woods, also preceded her in death.

Visitation will begin at 12 p.m. Saturday, at Lively Stone Church, and continue until time of service at 1 p.m. with Elder Jeffery Price officiating. Interment will follow at City Cemetery.
