Lois Jean Vickery

Lois Jean Vickery, 72, of Mountain Home, AR, went to be with the Lord Monday, October 28, at her home in Poplar Bluff, MO.
Mrs. Vickery was born October 12, 1941, in Wardell, Missouri, to parents Hollis and Myrtle Sims Defoe. Lois attended school in Missouri and Michigan and graduated from Benton Harbor Michigan High School.
On April 13, 1963, Lois married Orville H. Vickery in Memphis, TN. Through the years following their marriage, Lois worked in various positions including as a store manager for Famous Footwear in Dallas and as a secretary for the City of Memphis. Lois was active in volunteer work through the churches she was a member of. She served in puppet ministries, as a Sunday School Teacher, and in training young girls in practical ways.
Lois enjoyed spending time with her family, raising and riding horses, interior decorating, ceramics, painting and flower arranging. Above all, Lois was dedicated to her Lord and to her husband and family. She provided special loving care for her mother and father. She and her husband last attended Mountain Home Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Orville, of the home, her sisters, Brenda McComas (Marty) of Mammoth Springs, AR, Sherri Farmer (Forest) of Powhatten, AR, Tina Miller (Laban) of Mountain Home, AR, and several nieces and nephews.
Her parents, two sisters, Holly Jackson and Myra Friel and two brothers, Lloyd Defoe and Larry Alan Defoe, precede Lois in death.
Visitation will begin at 1:30 pm Thursday at New Hope Baptist Church, 1252 Hwy. 175, Hardy, AR. The funeral service will begin at 2:30 pm in the church's chapel with Rev. Robert H. Vickery officiating. Interment will be at Eagles Rest Cemetery near Hardy, AR.
Memorial contributions in Mrs. Vickery's name may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association, 1630 W. Elfindale Street, Springfield, MO 65807.
