Louie Mason Snider, Jr., 89, of Poplar Bluff, MO, passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2013 at Mercy Hospital in St. Louis, MO.
Mr. Snider was born on October 20, 1923 in Ash Hill, MO. to Louie Mason Snider Sr. and Bertha P. Amhrien Snider.
On January 9, 1949 he married Vida Lee Brown at Pocahontas, AR. She survives of the home.
Mr. Snider was a member of the Presbyterian Church, served in WWII in the Battle of the Bulge, under General Patton in the 3rd Army, was a Grocery Retailer, and was the 1st Mayor of the present form of Government of the City of Poplar Bluff, MO.
Survivors include his wife, Vida, their children: Clayton Snider of Sherwood, AR, Doug Snider of Poplar Bluff, grandchildren: Matt Snider of Sherwood, Amanda Snider of Lonoke AR, , Loren Plumb and Taylor Plumb of Glen Carbon, IL, and a great grand daughter, Ryelee Snider.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Jack Snider and a sister, Betty Inman.
Visitation will be Monday from 6-8 p.m. at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. Funeral Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the chapel with Windy Downing officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.
