Louis Arington

Louis Arington, Jr. of Poplar Bluff died Friday, Feb. 6, 2009 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Arington was born Jan. 3, 1933 in Malden. He was a member of New Home Missionary Baptist Church, and had retired from General Motors Corp. in Flint, Mich. Mr. Arington enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching western movies and driving around and checking on people in the community.

On May 27, 1995 he married Kelita Smith in Broseley. She survives.

Other survivors include 10 children: Esther Blackman of Little Rock, Ark., Chris Blackman of Poplar Bluff, Timothy McAuffie and Duane Smith, both
of Flint, Mich., Joseph Smith, of Poplar Bluff, Issac Laster, of Saginaw, Mich., Loletta Arington, of Jackson, Miss. and Louis Arington III of Poplar Bluff; 17 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; 4 sisters, Ruth Warren of Poplar Bluff, Louise Jackson, of St. Louis, Ethel McGary, of Kansas City, Mo. and Patsy A. Larry, of St. Louis; and 2 brothers, Amos Arrington of Kansas City, Mo. and Joe Leo Arrington of Poplar Bluff.

The visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday at New Home Missionary Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 12 noon at the Church with the Rev. Ivory Dean officiating and the Rev. Johnny Williams assisting. Burial will be at the City Cemetery in Poplar Bluff.
