January 5, 1922 — February 17, 2020

On Monday, Feb. 17, 2020 our beloved mother Lucile Arnita Greeson was called to her heavenly home.  Her faith was sufficient, her course was complete, and her job well done.

Mrs. Greeson, the daughter of the late Charles Arthur and Goldie Belle Wier Biggs, was born Jan. 5, 1922, in Neelyville, MO.  She was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church in Neelyville and was a homemaker. During her earlier years Mrs. Greeson taught school, starting in a one-room school in Coon Island, MO.  She later taught for many years as a substitute teacher in the University City School district in St. Louis, MO.  Following her husband Pete's  retirement in 1978 they returned to live on a family farm in Neelyville for the next 27 years. Mrs. Greeson enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and doing needlepoint. She also was known for her lively sense of humor and welcoming approach to life, even in her last years.

She married Earl Howard ‘Pete’ Greeson on March 7, 1943.  He preceded her in death on May 14, 1995.

Survivors include four children, Earl Howard Greeson, Jr. of Panama City Beach, Fla., Joseph Biggs Greeson of Lincoln, Mass., James Robert Greeson of Fayetteville, Ark. and Marilyn Holcomb of Barkhamsted, Conn.; three grandchildren, Captain Joseph Lee Greeson USN, Lucinda Fayne Palmer and Schuyler Worthington Holcomb; and four great-grandchildren, Beatrice Waterman Greeson, William Biggs Greeson, Cole Michael Palmer and Wyatt Grayson Palmer.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Greeson was preceded in death by two sisters, Goldie Margaret Tedrick and Julia Bryant.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm Thursday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff, MO.  The funeral service will begin at 10 am Friday at First United Methodist Church in Neelyville, MO, with Rev. Kent Wilfong officiating.  Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Poplar Bluff.
