Lucille Irene Gamble

Lucille Irene Gamble, 86, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Monday, Feb. 26, 2018 at Oakdale Care Center in Poplar Bluff.

Lucille, the daughter of the late Freddie and Nellie Magdeline Kilgoure McMillin, was born Feb. 22, 1932 in Poplar Bluff. She was a member of Collins Chapel Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher for many years. Lucille had retired as a beauty operator. She loved serving her Lord and Savior and her church. Known as a wonderful cook, Lucille enjoyed having family and friends gather in her home for good ole home cooked meals.

Lucille married the love of her life, James “Jim” Harvey Gamble on Feb. 19, 1949, in Poplar Bluff, Mo. He preceded her in death on Jan. 28, 2006.

Survivors include two daughters, Vicki L. (Steve) Hicks of Poplar Bluff and Trudie K. Patterson of Wappapello; two grandchildren, Steven (Dawn) Hicks II and Brian (Megan) Hicks of Poplar Bluff; three great-grandchildren, Savannah, Parker and Kenzley Hicks; a brother, Fred McMillin of Peavely, Mo.; and two sisters Sylvia Nohr of Labadie, Mo. and Anna Dorris of Poplar Bluff.

A half-brother, William “Bill” Spencer and a son-in-law, Eddie E. Patterson also preceded Lucille in death.

Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Friday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel with the funeral service following at 2 p.m. The Rev. Jim Schremp will officiate. Burial will be in the Woodlawn section of the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery.
