Lula Lu Caroline (Mays) Warren

Lula (Lu) Caroline Mays Warren, 82, of Poplar Bluff died Sunday, December 16, 2012, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center after a lengthy illness.
Lu was born at home on June 26, 1930 at Palestine, AR to Joe and Robbie Mays.
On October 4, 1946, she married George Herbert Warren in New Madrid, MO. He preceded her in death on May 31, 2011.
Lu and Herbert moved to Michigan where they lived for many years. Lu worked at Koegel Meats for several years in Flint, MI before they moved to Clubb, MO, where she opened a country store. Lu obtained her GED, and a license to sell real estate. She then established her own brokerage company, Heartland Realty. Lu and Herbert later moved to Poplar Bluff, where she worked with Remax for 15 years, then started 1st Class Realty. She and Herbert were long time members of the Highland Drive Church of Christ.
Survivors include a daughter Patricia Ann Shephard and husband, John of Rapidan, Virginia; two sons, Kenneth Wayne Warren and wife, Connie, of Wappapello, Missouri and Joseph Andrew Warren and wife, Mary, of Corinth, Texas; two brothers, Basil Mays and wife, Sharon, of Englewood, Florida and Don Mays and wife, Myke, of Fredericktown, Missouri; nine grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Gracie Mays, of Miner, Missouri, Wanita Mays, of Flint, Michigan, and Linda Mays, of Mt. Morris, Michigan; a brother-in-law, Glen Godwin, of Oran, Missouri; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her parents, three brothers, Dick Mays, Bud Mays, Bill Mays, and a sister, Christine Godwin also preceded Lu in death.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral services will begin at 9:00 a.m. Friday at the Highland Drive Church of Christ at 1601 Highland Dr., in Poplar Bluff, with Brother Vernon Curry officiating. Interment will follow at 11 a.m. Friday at the Missouri State Veterans in Bloomfield, MO.
