Lura Mae Johnson Montgomery

Lura Mae Johnson Montgomery, 93, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, July 22, 2016 lovingly surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Montgomery, daughter of the late Joseph and Nora Jaco Johnson was born Nov. 7, 1922 in Stoddard County, Mo. She was a charter member of Township Line Landmark Missionary Baptist Church and was a homemaker. In her earlier years Mrs. Montgomery worked as a seamstress for the Gossard Garment Factory. She loved her church and especially loved to spend time with her family. She enjoyed gospel music, shopping and word search puzzles.

On Sept. 23, 1939, she married Clyde V. Montgomery in Butler County. He preceded her in death on Dec. 4, 1987.

Survivors include her daughter, Wanda (Bill) Eudaley of Poplar Bluff; a daughter-in-law, Nova Montgomery of Poplar Bluff; a brother-in-law, Claude Montgomery of Poplar Bluff; nine grandchildren, Tamara, Gaylen (Tina), Tracie, Kimberley (Rod), Cyndi, Kevin (Kim), David, Shawn and Chris (Sarah); 16 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Montgomery was preceded in death by three children, Victoria Garman, Louise Yarbro and C. Dale Montgomery, a great-grandchild, Shawn Lyles, and seven sisters and two brothers also preceded Mrs. Montgomery in death.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral chapel with Elder Lloyd Steinshouer officiating and her grandsons, Elder Kevin Eudaley and Gaylen Yarbro assisting. Burial will be at Montgomery Shephard Cemetery on Township Line Road in Poplar Bluff.
