M. Gene Alford

M. Gene Alford passed away Sunday, July 5, 2015 surrounded by his family at St. Anthony's Medical Center, in St. Louis, MO.

Gene was born near Poplar Bluff and was preceded in death by his mother, Millie Alford, his father, Milburn Alford; and his four brothers, James Alford, Earl Alford, Junior Alford and Walter Alford.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Wanda Alford; his sister, Mary Alford; his children; Rick (Kari) Alford, Patty Guay (Rodney Kyle), Jerry (Julie) Alford and his adopted daughter, Becky (George) Missey. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Justin Alford, Samantha Alford, Ereca Alford, Cody Guay, Dylan Guay, Brian Boyet and Jesse Hernandez, and Tiler & Remi Missey; and six great-grandchildren.

He was a hard working entrepreneur that was a member of Second Baptist Church in Festus for 46 years and was dedicated to giving to anyone in need with a special dedication to Living Springs Camp. He was also a 32nd degree Master Mason.

The services will be on Thursday July 9, 2015 at Second Baptist Church at Central & Horine Rd in Festus as follows: Family visitation from 9:30 -10:00 AM with open visitation from 10:00-11:00 AM. The service will begin at 11:00 AM. The graveside service will follow at 3:00 PM at the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery in Poplar Bluff.

The family requests that donations be given to Living Springs Camp, P.O. Box 88, Festus, MO 63028 in lieu of flowers.
