Mabel Francis (Hurst) Prosise

Mabel Francis Prosise, 79, of Poplar Bluff, died Thursday, May 24, 2012 at her residence.

Mrs. Prosise was born Dec. 26, 1932 in Thomasville, Mo. She was of the Baptist faith, and had retired from AT&T as a telephone operator. Mrs. Prosise previously served as a RSVP volunteer. She enjoyed spending time with her family.

On Sept. 15, 1951, she married Edmond Lee Prosise in East St. Louis, Ill. He preceded her in death on April 7, 2011.

Survivors include 3 children, Linda Sue Pirtle and husband James and Paul Jerome Prosise all of Poplar Bluff and Deborah Johnson and husband Eric of Columbia, Ill.; 7 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and a sister, Dessa Severine and husband John of Granite City, Ill.

Her parents, Jack and Etta Mae (Mendenhall) Hurst, son, Richard Lee Prosise, and brother, Dwayne Hurst also preceded Mrs. Prosise in death.

Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. A graveside service and burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Holiday Cemetery in Williamsville, Mo. with The Rev. Luther Goins officiating.
