Mamie Martha Greer

Mamie Martha Greer, 95, was born February 13, 1924 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. She left this world Sunday, Feb. 17, 2019 to reunite with her beloved, John, and her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Growing up, Mamie was the lone sister of four brothers. She reflected on her childhood experience when raising her own five sons and daughter. In 1942, Mamie married John Greer and served with him for seventy-four years until his passing in March of 2017. Together they built an incredible family, served faithfully in their church, founded multiple businesses and made a lasting difference in the lives of many.

Mamie read and studied her Bible daily. It provided guidance when she was young, wisdom through the years and comfort and peace when she needed it most.

Mamie was preceded in death by her husband, John, parents Herman and Effie Silkwood, three brothers, a granddaughter and a great grandson. She is survived by her brother Paul of Springfield, Missouri, son John and wife Sherry of Guntown, Mississippi, son Ron and wife Tanya of Claremore, Oklahoma, son Jim and wife Mary of Wheaton, Illinois, son Bob and wife Vicky of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, son Roger and wife MariAnne of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, daughter Nancy Pence and husband Tim of Camdenton, Missouri, seventeen grand-children, forty great grand-children, six great great grand-children, with one on the way, and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Visitation will begin at 1 p.m., Tuesda, Feb. 19, 2019 at First Baptist Church with funeral services following at 2 p.m. The Rev. Greg Gilberto will officiate and the Rev. Brandon Spain of First Baptist Church will assist. Burial will be in the Garner addition of Poplar Bluff City Cemetery.
