Margaret M. Anderson Barton

Margaret Matilda Anderson Barton, 94, of Poplar Bluff, Mo. died Sunday. Nov. 1, 2015.

Margaret was born May 25. 1921 in Poplar Bluff to Walter Edward Anderson and Lottie Lee Sanford Anderson. On Dec. 21, 1936 she married Sandlin Wilbur Barton. He preceded her in death after nearly 70 wonderful years together. Two sisters, Juanita Leamon (Harold) and Patty Hendrickson (Herschel) and a granddaughter, Jennifer Barton also preceded her in death.

Margaret was a lifetime resident of Poplar Bluff where she and her late husband, Sandlin Barton owned and operated Anderson's Home Furnishings. Margaret was also a lifetime member of the First Church of God of Poplar Bluff, where she volunteered with the Women of the Church of God. Her hobbies included ceramics, swimming, gardening and spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include four children: Ruthann Diamond and Al Barton (Vicki ) of Poplar Bluff; Sandra Hobbs (Gene) of Tullahoma, Tenn. and Bernard Barton of Fukuoka, Japan; 11 grandchildren: Steve Diamond (Michelle) of Arvada, Colo., Kevin Diamond (Jodi) of Grand Junction, Colo., Leeann Hobbs and Ernie Hobbs (Tamara) of Tullahoma, Tenn., David Hobbs(Alicia) of' Joelton, Tenn., Kirk Barton (Beth) and Rose Barton of Poplar Bluff, Sarah Hickey (Darin) of Cape Girardeau, Ben Barton of Kobe, Japan, and Stephanie Lyngdoh (Donald) of Qingdao, China; 16 great-grandchildren: Luke Diamond (Roxy) of San Antonio, Texas, Bethany Roach (Marshall) of Grand Junction, Colo., Caroline Dobbs (Zachary), Destanee Barton, Kaleb Barton (Shania) and Landon, Lilli and Laynie Jones all of Poplar Bluff, Trey, Megan and Ian Hobbs of Tullahoma, Tenn., Ashlynn and Zade Hickey of Cape Girardeau and Benjamin, Hosanna and Sammy Lyngdoh of Qingdao, China; and one and a half great-great-grandchildren, Sawyer Diamond of San Antonio, Texas with Beau Allan Barton expected in March.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 6, 2015 at Cotrell Funeral Chapel with a service in memory and celebration of Margaret's life at 11 a.m. Margaret's son, The Rev. Bernard Barton will officiate. At the close of the service her body will be taken and laid to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery in Poplar Bluff
