Margaret Lucille Snider, 93, of Poplar Bluff, died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012 at The Chateau Girardeau in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
Mrs. Snider was born Sept. 13, 1919 in Doniphan, Mo. She graduated from Southeast Missouri State College with B.A. degree in Social Science in 1961, and later returned to earn a Masters degree in Guidance Counseling. Mrs. Snider taught high school in Cape Girardeau, and also worked as a high school guidance counselor in Poplar Bluff, where she lived for many years. She was a former member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Cape Girardeau, and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Poplar Bluff. Mrs. Snider enjoyed being active and played golf until she was 90 years of age. She also enjoyed playing bridge, reading and traveling.
After World War II, she was married to Robert L. Snider. He preceded her in death in 1968.
Survivors include two nieces, Kathy Gallo of Stone Mountain, Ga., and Mary Blackhurst of North River, NY; a nephew, Charles ""Chuck"" Butler of Doniphan, Mo.; and a close friend, Celeste Obermiller of Cape Girardeau, Mo.
Her parents, Charles B. and Kate L. (Kilgore) Butler, two sisters, Louise Butler and Alwilda Keeter, and three brothers, Francis Butler, Bud Butler and Ben Butler also preceded Mrs. Snider in death.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Poplar Bluff with a Mass of Christian Burial following at 11 a.m. Father Joseph Kappilumakkal Mathai will officiate. Burial will be at St. Benedict's Catholic Cemetery in Doniphan, Mo.
