Margie A. Fox Chatman, 83, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away peacefully with the Lord and loved ones by her side Thursday, Jan. 26, 2017 at The Manor in Poplar Bluff.
Mrs. Chatman, the daughter of the late James Franklin and Ellen Baxter Fox, was born Sept. 13, 1933 in Pocahontas, Ark. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Chatman cherished her family and loved spending time with them. She was known as “Granny” to everyone that knew her. She was a faithful Christian and a founding member of Living Word Baptist Church. Mrs. Chatman enjoyed church functions, sewing, crafting, baking, and puzzle books. Her most enjoyable hobbies included watching Dancing with the Stars, Cardinal baseball games and tending to her many beautiful flower.
She was married to Uel T. Chatman, who preceded her in death.
Survivors include two children, Martha Barriner-Anderson and her husband, James Anderson, Sr. and Douglas Barriner, Jr. and his wife Gail Barriner; four step-children; 13 grandchildren, James Jr., Michelle, Richard Sr., Connie, Charles, Dennis Jr. Megan, Amber, Kyle, Douglas Jr., Tara, Destiny and Terry Jr.; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Chatman was also preceded in death by two sons, Dennis Barriner, Sr. and Terry Smith, Sr., a grandson, Trenton Smith, as well as her siblings and many other loved ones.
She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, who had a heart of gold and was truly a blessing.
The visitation will begin at noon Monday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel with the funeral service following at 1 p.m. Rev. Brenda Anderson will officiate. Burial will be at Black Creek Cemetery.
