Maria Fitzgerald

Maria Fitzgerald, 93, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Sunday, Feb. 19, 2017 at Westwood Hills Healthcare Center in Poplar Bluff.

Mrs. Fitzgerald, the daughter of the late Cipriano and Mary Selise Lopez, was born Sept. 30, 1923 in Fossil, Wyoming. She was of the Catholic faith and was a homemaker. Mrs. Fitzgerald loved spending time with her family, cooking and taking care of them.

Survivors include her children, Johnny Lopez of Butler County, Jenny Lopez of Chicago, Ill., Moses Montezuma of Wappapello and Alice Ward and Josephine Montezuma of Poplar Bluff; six grandchildren, Jackie (Henry) Dennis, Tasha (Neil) Kimbrel, Nikki Montezuma, Brian Montezuma, Michael (Janell)Villarreal and Joseph Villarreal; and nine great-grandchildren.

Her husband, Thomas Fitzgerald and a son, Albert Lopez also preceded her in death.

The family will begin gathering at 10 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Poplar Bluff with a Mass of Christian Burial following at 11 a.m. Father William Hodgson will serve as Celebrant. Interment will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
