Mariam I. Bennett, 80, of Doniphan, Mo., passed away Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013 at her residence.
Mrs. Bennett was born June 21, 1933 in Metropolis, Ill. She was of the Protestant faith and had retired in 2009 as a nurse in the medical office of Dr. James W. Gieselmann. Mrs. Bennett had previously worked at Lucy Lee Hospital. Her greatest joy in life was to spend time with her children, and especially her grandchildren, taking care of others and working outside on the farm.
In June 1955, she married A.R. Bennett in Metropolis, Ill. He preceded her in death on Nov. 24, 1990.
Survivors include her children: Karen Skipper of Indianapolis, Ind., and Robin Bennett, Judy Crain and Daniel Bennett all of Fairdealing, Mo.; 10 grandchildren: Kevin Skipper, Jenni Hutchens and Brian Skipper all of Indianapolis, Ind., Thomas Green of Campbell, Mo., Josh Berry, Samantha Leroux and Leigh Collins all of Doniphan, Mo., Daniel Bennett of Anderson, Ind., Ashley Bennett of Moreno Valley, Calif. and Allyssa Bennett of Fairdealing, Mo.; 25 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Roberta Sue Reynolds of Marion, Ill.
Her parents, Robert and Margaret Copeland Mumford and brother, Jimmy Mumford also preceded her in death.
A graveside Celebration of Life will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Woodlawn Cemetery in Poplar Bluff with Rev. Charles Carr officiating.
