Marie Drake

Marie Drake, 70, of Qulin, Mo., passed away Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at St. Louis University Hospital.

Marie, the daughter of the late John J. and Henrietta A. Stenger Weatherholt, was born May 17, 1947 in Glennonville, Mo. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Marie was a farmer’s wife and a passionate mother known for taking care of her daughter, her sons and her family. She enjoyed doing needlepoint, quilting and gardening.

She married the love of her life Ronnie L. Drake on May 13, 1967, in Poplar Bluff. He preceded her in death on Dec. 24, 2010.

Survivors include her daughter Jennifer Marie Drake of Qulin; three sons: Donald L. (Rhonda) Drake of Fairdealing, David L. (Rebecca) Drake of Poplar Bluff and John H. Drake (Emily Harmon) of Harviell; eight grandchildren: Dominic (Emily) Drake, Tricia (Bryan) Robinett, Matthew Drake, Justin Drake, Breanna Drake, Johnnah Drake, Madison Harmon and Mackenzie Drake; three great-grandchildren: Michael Drake, Zachary Drake and Katheryn Robinett. Also surviving are two sisters, Ernestine (Martin) Radin of De Soto and Betty Jean (Darrell) Gray of Springfield; three brothers, James (Carol) Weatherholt of Indiana and John Weatherholt and Ernest (JoEllen) Weatherholt of St. Louis; and a sister-in-law Shirley Narvel.

A sister, Mary Weatherholt and a sister-in-law, Donna Weatherholt also preceded Marie in death.

A Rosary will begin at 4 p.m. Sunday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel with visitation following until 6 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father William Hodgson as Celebrant. Burial will be in Qulin Cemetery.
