Marion Cleiria Clark, 78, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., died Thursday July 8, 2010. She died with her family at her side, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimers Disease.
Marion was born in Irvington, New Jersey to Frank and Gertrude Fischer on February 9th, 10th, 1932; they preceded her in death.
After completing her high school education in New Jersey, Marion enlisted in the United States Air Force, where she later met her husband Jimmie Lee Clark, who preceded her in death, on March 5, 1987. In the USAF, Marion was an obstetric nurse and was in one of the first squadrons of the Women of the Air Force.
Marion graduated from the Brown Business School and was employed at the local Veteran's Administration Hospital for 30 years. After retiring in 1993, she enjoyed bowling, dancing, family cookouts, board games and spending time with her friends and family. She was actively involved for many years in the Butler Co. Democratic Women's Club, American Legion and AMVETS.
Survivors include sister Dorothy Ondecker of Jackson, New Jersey; three sons: Mitch and wife Sandy; Andy and wife Debbie and Greg and wife Glenda, all of Poplar Bluff. Six grandchildren include Andrea Reynolds, Carrie Booker, Josh Clark, Zack Clark, Alex Clark and Zane Clark. Four great grandchildren include Caden and Kyle Reynolds and Jacob and Kaitlyn Booker.
There will be a graveside service on Saturday July 10, 2010 at 10 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, with military honors. Friends are welcomed to attend. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be made to the American Legion and AMVETS.
