Martha Mitchell Bidewell, 86, of Poplar Bluff, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012 at her home.
Mrs. Bidewell was born June 6, 1926 in Memphis, TN. She was a member of First United Methodist Church; was a member of Three Rivers College Foundation; and was a homemaker. Mrs. Bidewell enjoyed spending time at the family cabin on Black River, taking vacations with the family in Destin, Florida, cooking, crafting, fishing and going to flea markets.
On March 27, 1948, she married Carl Ben Bidewell in Malden, MO. He preceded her in death on Sept. 20, 2009.
Survivors include three children, Bob Bidewell, of North Little Rock, AR, Leigh Bidewell of Little Rock, AR, and Jim Bidewell (Marian) of Portageville, MO; three grandchildren, Aaron Bidewell (Lauren), of Blytheville, AR, Jordan Bidewell of Harviell, MO, and Mallory Morton (Patrick) of Poplar Bluff; a brother, Charles Mitchell (Jackie), of Malden; and a host of family and friends.
Her parents, Charles L. Mitchell and Helen Stokes Mitchell also preceded Mrs. Bidewell in death.
The family will gather and visit with relatives and friends at 10 a.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church in Poplar Bluff. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 11 a.m. in the church sanctuary with Rev. Jim Hoyt officiating and Rev. David Stewart assisting.
Memorials may be made to United Gospel Rescue Mission, Poplar Bluff Public Library, or to First United Methodist Church Music Department.
