Martha V. Hathaway

Martha V. Hathaway, 82, of St. Charles,Mo. formerly of Poplar Bluff and West Plains, Mo. died Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2010 at Garden View Care Center in O'Fallon.

Mrs. Hathaway was born Feb. 6, 1928 in the Coon Island community of Butler County. She was a member of Grace Christian Fellowship in Poplar Bluff, and was a homemaker. Mrs. Hathaway enjoyed spending time and traveling with her family, her church and church family, sewing, quilting and being a member of the Red Hat Society.

On March 1, 1946 she married the Rev. Ralph D. Hathaway at her parents home in the Cane Creek Community. He preceded her in death on June 28, 1996.

Survivors include her daughter, Sandra K. Robbins and husband Richard Robbins of St. Charles; two grandchildren, Khristine Wadley and husband Michael Wayne Wadley of Madison, Ala. and Regina Robbins-Smith and husband Paul Hunter Smith III of St. Charles; five great-grandchildren, Tabbetha Wadley Lopez of Houston, Tex., Jessica M. Wadley and Nicholas M. L. Wadley both of Madison, Ala., and Brianna K. R. Smith and Hunter L. R. Smith both of St. Charles; a sister, Sophie Britton of Poplar Bluff; a brother, Oscar Casinger and wife Lois of Fairdealing; two sisters-in-law, Darlene Casinger of Poplar Bluff and Juanita Raymer St. Charles; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Hathaway was preceded by her parents, Charles T. and Lula (Butler) Casinger, son, ""Buddy"" Ralph D. Hathaway, Jr.; sister, Hattie Booten and husband Thurman, and brothers, Tom Casinger and wife Jo, Theodore Casinger and wife Juanita, Orville Casinger and wife Thelma and Charles Casinger.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Chapel with Rev. Brian Sharp officiating and Rev. Vernon Kneir assisting. Burial will follow at the City Cemetery in Poplar Bluff.
